His Perfect Peace

TODAY’S VERSE
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”
Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What do you think about? Where do you fix your thoughts? God expects us to consider what we think and judge it according to His word. Trouble comes into our life and we begin to fear. When it does we have a choice to make. Will we remain in fear? Will we let it escalate into panic? Or will we obey today’s passage and trust in God, fixing our thoughts on Him? When we do, He promises us peace. Not just any peace, His perfect peace. It is the same way with anger, jealously, doubt and a hundred other thoughts that come into our life everyday. Today, when negative thoughts come to your mind begin a new habit. Trade them in for peace. How? By giving the thoughts to God and then choose to trust in Him by fixing your thoughts on His love for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me trade my negative thinking for your perfect peace. Today, help me to fix all my thoughts on you.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I have a deep peace
God has promised to give you peace if you trust in Him and keep focused on Him. See yourself in a quiet safe place. Relax and focus on the serenity. Listen to the various sounds. See the bright colors. Smell the atmosphere. As you are more present in your quiet place, consider where God is. Get a sense of God and focus on Him. Watch and listen. See God and consider Him. Consider His love, His grace and His power. Feel your heart filling with peace. Keep your self focused on God and let the peace fill you.

Contentment For Today

TODAY’S VERSE
“I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
Philippians 4:11-13 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Dr. David Berceli in his book, The Revolutionary Trauma Release Process, writes about trauma: “It is not the events that hurt us, it is our reaction to the events.” He defines stress as the reaction to having things happen in our life that we don’t want happening. We try to avoid them or fight against them and this causes stress. He differentiates this from anxiety. He teaches that anxiety is when we don’t have what we want so rather than live in the “now” we complain, regret and then strive and connive about our future. Either way, we are ignoring the life lessons and opportunities God has for us in the now. By avoiding today with its problems, the stress and anxiety remain unresolved. We have not learned about God’s provision of grace and courage and so we become more vulnerable for the next bout of stress. As this is repeated we create a habit of discontentment and our stress rises to a toxic level. Paul faced his situation leaning on the love of God. He learned to trust God in the pain and gained the strength and mastery he needed to press on. He learned how to be content. Likewise, if we face our situations in life and embrace them, God will help us bounce back and gain more capacity for resilience. Paul said it this way, “I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.” God promises you the same. Today, embrace this day and face your circumstances with faith, hope, and courage, believing that God will get you through.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord, You know how discontent I get. I complain about the situations I am in and constantly strive for a different future. Meanwhile, precious days go by. Help me to live today with full awareness of Your presence. Help me get everything You have for me today. Help me to be content in You, I pray. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I have learned to be content
Go to a quiet, peaceful place in your imagination and invite God to meet you there. Sit and sense His presence. Picture His mighty power and His boundless love for you. As you relax, think about today. What are you feeling? Are you feeling anxious, angry or sad? As you sense your attitude, give it to God. Ask Him to bless today. Turn your thoughts toward being content today and living today to its fullness. Invite God to make you aware of His presence and to be your guide, giving you all the peace, joy and contentment you need for this day.

The Lord Almighty

TODAY’S VERSE
“The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”
Psalms 46:7 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is amazing to see the difference one sentence can make. Especially when it carries such an important message. But if this passage is such a revelation, why do most of walk around discouraged, overwhelmed and stressed out with life issues? What does it take to make a sentence go from the head to the heart? How can focusing on the reality of Almighty God in our life make a difference? How would waking tomorrow morning, conscious of what David is expressing in this verse, change our plans or behavior? What would you do different knowing that the Lord Almighty is right there with you? The reality is that God is with us. He is our fortress, He is Almighty. Might this truth sink in and cause us to live accordingly. 

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, make me aware of Your presence. Help me to see You in all Your power and glory. Help me trust You for everything I do this day. In Jesus name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I am aware of God’s presence.
Quiet your heart before God and pray, “Lord, I come to sense Your presence. Draw me close to You.”
You may want to close your eyes, or lift your hands or put your hands in front of you with palms facing upward. This “open” stance sets your mind to a readiness of acceptance. 
Quietly whisper again, “Your presence Lord, let me sense Your presence.”
Now meditate on who He. He is love, goodness, truth, power and knowledge. Muse on each of these attributes and let the presence of God fill your heart.

Loving Others

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

TODAY’S VERSE
“Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it.”
I Peter 3:8-9 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Sometimes we overcomplicate things. We want to add so much to following Christ when Jesus made it pretty clear what He wanted us to do. He said that the two greatest commandments were to love God with our whole heart and to love our neighbor as our own self. The disciples heard it loud and clear and saw Jesus live it out right before their eyes. So when Jesus left this earth, they decided to live and teach the way Jesus did. John tells us not to pretend we love God, who we do not see, if we don’t love the people we do see. James says if we don’t help those in need that God brings into our path, how can we say we even have God’s love in us? Peter goes farther and outlines what our love should really be like. We are to be humble and sympathize with those in need. We are to be tenderhearted to those around us. We are not to repay evil with evil but should bless those that do not bless us. This is the way Jesus lived. The disciples did the same. They turned their world upside down with their love. God has called you and I to do the same. Today, might the love of God live in us and through us.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, thank You for the great love You have. Help me, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, follow Your example. Help me love others the way You would want me to. In Your name I pray.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I am called to love with the love of Christ
As you quiet your heart before God, ask Him to help you visualize how to love others. See your self loving others like brothers and sisters. Feel yourself full of sympathy and empathy for others. Sense what it is like to be tenderhearted and humble. Ask God to help you return love to those that are not loving to you. As you wait quietly before God, let His love fill your heart and say, “I am called to love with the love of Christ.”

Hope In God

TODAY’S VERSE
“And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in you.”
Psalms 39:7 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Hope is only as good as the person you hope in. Blind hope is not hope; it is credulity, the state of willingness to believe in one or many people or things in the absence of reasonable proof or knowledge. We don’t just hope for hope’s sake. Our hope is not in a religion. It is not is a creed or tradition. No, we believe in the one and true God, the God who is there. A moral and loving God. The God of eternity who has a much broader perspective on life than we could ever imagine. We come to our loving God and put our faith in Him; so when we need hope, we simply have to draw from our Spiritual experience and put our trust in Him. Today, join the Psalmist in his answer to the question, “Where do I put my hope?” Answer God by saying, “My hope is in you!”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, forgive me when I doubt You. My worry is testament to my lack of faith or trust I should have in You. Today, dear Lord, I come again and renew my hope in You. I reaffirm my faith and put my trust in Your love and almighty power. My hope is in You, my Lord and my God.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
My hope is in the living God
Ask yourself, “What are the things that I am worried about?” Bring them to mind and reflect on them for a moment. Name them and as you do, Ask yourself, “Is God greater?” As you ask yourself that question, allow yourself to see God as much greater than your worry. Sense His love for you. As you consider His wisdom, power and might, ask yourself, “Where will I put my hope?” Answer by saying, “My hope is in the living God.

God’s Power

TODAY’S VERSE
“I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.”
Ephesians 1:19-20 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Paul is throwing out a challenge to all of us who think just knowing about Jesus is enough. Knowing the Bible and tenets of the faith is great and necessary for our Christian growth, but we are nowhere near what God wants for us if we do have experiential knowledge regarding Christ’s power and mighty strength. Paul is so emphatic that he used four different words in this passage explaining God’s power. First, it is great power. This is the same word we use for dynamite. It is an inherent natural power. Second, Paul uses the word “working”. It is a working operative power. It is the same word we use for energy. The third word for power is “mighty”. This means a manifested strength. It is used as might, strength and mighty deeds. The word actually means the overwhelming evidence of power. Finally, Paul uses the word “strength”. This means a power that is inherent, part of its natural capacity. It is the same power that raised Christ from the dead! Paul is saying that he wants us to know God’s natural inherent attribute of strength. God is all powerful. The only thing stronger than His power is His love for us. This is what God wants us to believe. This is what God wants us to avail ourselves of. Today, let us ask Him to use His mighty strength in our lives. Let us trust Him for great and mighty things, so we will be a witness to this generation that is desperately seeking a spiritual solution to the struggles they are having in their lives.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, enlighten the eyes of my heart that I may know the incredible greatness of Your power that You have for my life. Help me trust You and avail myself of the power You want to use on my behalf. In Jesus’ name.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I Trust God To Use His Mighty Power In My Life
Picture yourself on the beach watching the mighty waves of the ocean come slamming onto the shore. Know that God’s strength is greater. Imagine God creating the world out of nothing and sense deep in your heart, the incredible greatness of God’s power for you. Say with confidence, “I trust You, dear Lord, to use your mighty power in my life.”

Trust God

TODAY’S VERSE
“Praise the LORD! For he has heard my cry for mercy. The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.”
Psalms 28:6-8 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is hard to relax. I mean really relax. Why is it? We say we have faith and yet we are wound up tighter than a spring ready to snap at the next bit of pressure. Perhaps it is because when it comes to living life on our own, we are way over our head. We try, but life is so complicated. There are so many variables. But the truth is, God never intended us to live life all by ourself. He wants us to depend on Him. He wants us to live with His love and mercy helping us along the way. This is where fellowship with God is born. When we acknowledge that He is God, that He loves us and we begin to communicate with Him and share our inner struggles and needs, He hears us and gives us the help we need. God is pleased. And so are we. David knew this and proclaimed, “I trust Him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.” Today, relax, give it all to Him. Trust God, He will have mercy and help you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father God, I come and bring all my burdens to You. I am so tired of trying to fix everything myself. I need You. I ask You for mercy. Please help me today, I pray. In Jesus’ name.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I Put My Trust In God
Quiet your heart and come before God in prayer. Sense this big burden you are carrying on your back. Picture God wanting to take the burden from you. Take it off and lay it at His feet. Feel the relief as you take it off your back. Sense the joy in God’s heart as you give it to Him. He has heard your cry for mercy and is pleased to help you.
Smile and feel the joy in your heart as you say, “I put my trust in God.”

Who Have You Been With?

TODAY’S VERSE
“When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”
Acts 4:13

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever noticed how deeply influenced we can be by those that we spend time with? Reading books by the same author will deeply influence you to their way of thinking. People who have been married for a long time become more and more alike. A student becomes much like their favorite teacher and a disciple of martial arts much like their sensei. Today’s passage tells us that those that were arresting Peter and John were astonished at how much influence Jesus had on these men. How about you? Can your family tell who you have been spending time with? Who do those at your work believe you are inspired by? Today, start to build a deeper relationship with Christ. Spend time with Jesus and let Him influence your mind and behavior. Let Christ teach you, guide you and direct your path. When you do, others will be astonished and be able to tell you have been with Jesus.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord, I want to spend time with You. I want my life to be permeated with You so that others may recognize it and desire the same thing for their life. Teach me, guide me, mold me I pray. In Jesus name. AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I am a follower of Jesus Christ
As you sit quietly, focus your attention on Jesus Christ. Think of His love for you. Think of His great sacrifice so your sins could be forgiven. Ask yourself, “How committed am I to following Christ?” Picture yourself with Jesus and Him asking you, “Will you follow me?” Pause and think of your answer. When and if you are ready, respond to Jesus by saying, “Jesus, I will live for You.”

Be Holy

TODAY’S VERSE
“So think clearly and exercise self-control. Look forward to the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, ‘You must be holy because I am holy.”‘ I Peter 1:13-16

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Holiness is a difficult subject to grasp. The Pharisees felt they knew what it was but fell short of what Christ came to teach. They thought they were Holy by obeying the Old Testament law and all the hundreds of laws they created. Instead, Christ came to earth to die, so we could substitute His death for our sins. This is salvation. Once we accept the gift of salvation we become holy in the sight of God. We are born again as His children. As children we are motivated to live in accordance to our Father’s wishes. We live to please Him who gave Himself for us. Peter says we should live as obedient children. Le Ann Payne in her book “Listening Prayer” writes, “Only in union with Him, listening to Him and carrying out His orders, are we holy. – Those who treasure holiness and produce its fruits are the poor in spirit, the humble of the earth. They are fond of the Jesus Prayer. In one way or another they pray it over and over: ‘Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.’ They are quick to acknowledge their pride and lack of humility, repenting of it daily. – Holiness is both a quality we are given and a way. It is the way of remaining in Christ, of walking in the presence of God.” Peter tells us to think clearly and exercise self control like obedient children, not slipping back into our old ways. This comes from a relationship with God through scriptures, meditation, prayer and fellowship. Pray and ask God to reveal to you how you can live your life more holy today.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your provision of salvation. I accept this gift and desire to live more for You. I desire to be holy and pray for wisdom and strength to be what You want me to be. In Jesus Name. AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
The Holy Spirit helps me live a Holy life
Come quietly before God. Invite the Holy Spirit to guide you and direct your life. Picture Him empowering you, giving you wisdom and direction. Sense the joy deep in your soul as you move in union with the Holy Spirit, living the way Christ wants you to.

Increase Your Inner Strength

TODAY’S VERSE
“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.”
Ephesians 3:16 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Two thousand years ago, Paul the Apostle prayed this prayer for the church in Ephesus. He prayed that God would use His mighty resources to strengthen them with POWER in their INNER BEING. Can you think of anything that we need more than that? All around us there is strife, stress, conflicts and confusion. We often find ourselves going up and down emotionally. It is easy to get sucked into this world’s problems and forget that there is a God who cares, who loves us and who can strengthen us. In order to make it in this world, we need a mighty reservoir of strength on the inside, where we really live. And how does God impart His strength into our life? Through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. According to Paul, it is the job of the Holy Spirit to give us the internal strength we need. This same Spirit that intercedes for us. This same Spirit that leads us into all truth. This same Spirit that is our comfort. The Holy Spirit will give us the strength we need on the inside. Ask Him to strengthen you with His power today.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Holy Spirit, I know You are real. You are our Holy God’s Spirit, that comes and takes residence in us upon our conversion. I confess I have ignored You. I repent and ask Your forgiveness. I ask You now, O Holy Spirit, to come in all Your power and give me strength today in my inner being. Might I live in the fullness of Your power even now. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
God’s Holy Spirit Live In Me
What a glorious thought. Close your eyes and imagine a peaceful place. In your mind’s eye, go to that place and sit quietly. Be at peace and when ready, ask the Holy Spirit to just come and make His presence known to you. Ask Him to fill you with His peace and joy. Sense His presence and then ask Him to give you the strength you need for today. Finish resting in His presence and when ready finish by saying out loud, “God’s Holy Spirit lives in me.”
